Photographer Josh Ochner
Adventurer... Explorer... Fine Art Photographer
For over 20 years Josh Ochner has been photographing the dramatic landscapes of North America. He is widely known for his Dye-Infused Metal Prints filled with brilliant colors and strong composition along with the adventure and challenges involved in capturing his powerful photos.
The deepest influences on Josh's photography are the tragic deaths of his two older brothers. His strong bonds were shattered when one was violently murdered in the home and the other was killed in a motorcycle accident. As Josh continued the art of photography his emotions began to bleed over into his images; the result became photography brimming with beauty, transcendence, and personal symbolism. The images "Brothers of the North" *click here* and "Dark River" *click here* are extraordinary examples of the journey inside his emotions and mindset.
Josh became motivated to learn from the outdoor world and cultivated a mastery of harsh climates and diverse terrain. Simultaneously as he experienced nature in its most raw form, his unique artistic perspective emerged. At the age of 15 he began capturing the world around him with his 35mm film camera.
Josh continued his passion for photography by pursuing his education on both the east and west coast. He graduated with high honors earning a degree in photography. His main focus was photojournalism and was committed to shooting film and pre-digital techniques exclusively used in the darkroom. The majority of his digital education was learned outside of the classroom.
After decades of devoting himself to his artistry and earning the highest level of standard from his art collectors, Josh opened his limited edition prints to the public and in 2015 established Ochner Photography, a fully licensed fine art photography business in Sacramento California
